PhD Dropout With a Story and a Smile
Age: 36
I left a doctoral program in literature after two years because academia was slowly making me hate the thing I loved. I'm 29, now I work in publishing, and I've never regretted the decision. I live in a tiny apartment near Heritage Hill with more books than furniture and I wouldn't change it. I want a man who reads for pleasure, not just for productivity. Someone who has a novel on his nightstand that isn't just there for show. I've been on dates where I mentioned reading and watched eyes glaze over. It's a dealbreaker for me. Tell me the last book that stayed with you and I'll tell you mine. If we disagree we can argue about it over drinks. That sounds like a good night.
