Transplant Who Fell For North Florida

I moved here from Chicago two years ago for a job at UF and everyone back home thinks I'm crazy for leaving the city for a swamp. They're wrong. I'm 32, I work in university administration, and I've never been happier. The live oak trees with the Spanish moss did something to me I can't explain — it's like the whole place is draped in something ancient and unhurried. I want to find someone who also chose to be here rather than just ended up here by default. Someone who gets excited about Saturday morning farmers markets and canoeing on Lake Alice. I'm Midwestern-nice but with actual edges. Don't mistake my politeness for softness.
