Appalachian hills and honest feelings

I'm forty-three and I've been through enough to know that the hills don't just hold the landscape, they hold the people, and I'm one of them. I'm a family nurse practitioner, divorced after fifteen years, two kids who are getting older and needing me less, which is the goal and also the ache. I'm looking for someone who understands that I'm in a transition and wants to be part of what's next, not someone who needs me to be already finished. I'm grounded, I've got a dry sense of humor that's gotten drier with age, and I want someone who makes me laugh without trying. The trying is the problem, honestly.
